1. Stainless Steel Press Fittings for Domestic Water Supply Systems

MAYER stainless steel press fittings are designed for reliable hot and cold water distribution in modern domestic water supply systems. Manufactured from AISI 304 and AISI 316L stainless steel, these fittings are used to connect stainless steel water pipes and create a secure, durable piping network for residential and building water supply applications.

With a comprehensive range of stainless steel press fitting components, including elbows, tees, straight couplings, reducers and threaded adapters, MAYER provides practical connection solutions for new construction, plumbing installation and renovation projects. The press connection system enables fast installation without welding or open flames, helping contractors improve installation efficiency while reducing on-site work.

As a stainless steel pipes and fittings manufacturer in Guangzhou, China, MAYER combines manufacturing capabilities, material selection, quality control and export services to support distributors, plumbing contractors, engineering companies and project owners worldwide.

2. Applications in Domestic Water Supply Systems

2.1 Residential Water Supply

MAYER stainless steel press fittings are suitable for domestic water distribution networks in apartments, villas, detached houses and multi-storey residential buildings. Elbows, tees and couplings connect branch pipes, change flow direction and distribute water to kitchens, bathrooms, washbasins, showers, toilets and laundry areas.

When used with compatible stainless steel pipes and correctly installed sealing components, press fittings provide secure mechanical connections for everyday water supply. Their corrosion resistance, durability and hygienic characteristics make them a practical choice for long-term residential plumbing systems.

2.2 Hot and Cold Potable Water Systems

In domestic hot and cold water systems, stainless steel press fittings are used to connect water supply pipes, branch lines and terminal connections. They are suitable for distributing cold water and hot water to household fixtures and appliances, subject to the design temperature, pressure rating and sealing material specifications.

Stainless steel offers good corrosion resistance and a durable internal surface. When the complete piping system uses appropriate potable-water-contact materials and complies with applicable local requirements, it helps maintain water quality throughout distribution.

2.3 Apartment Buildings and High-Rise Residential Projects

Large residential developments require well-organized water distribution networks, including vertical risers, horizontal distribution pipes, branch connections and equipment-room pipework. MAYER stainless steel press fittings help connect these sections through a range of elbows, tees, couplings and reducers.

The press-fit installation method is particularly useful for projects involving multiple floors and numerous connection points. It eliminates on-site welding and can simplify installation planning, helping contractors manage labor, construction schedules and installation quality.

2.4 Domestic Water Distribution and Equipment Connections

Stainless steel press fittings can also be used in domestic water distribution branches and connections to compatible water meters, pumps, filtration units, storage tanks and water manifolds. They help create organized pipe layouts and facilitate connections between the main supply line and individual water-use points.

For equipment connections, the fitting type, thread standard, pressure rating and connection dimensions should be confirmed against the equipment manufacturer's specifications before installation.

3. Why Choose AISI 304 and AISI 316L?

AISI 304 AISI 316L

MAYER offers stainless steel press fittings in AISI 304 and AISI 316L to meet different domestic water supply requirements. Material selection should consider water chemistry, chloride concentration, installation environment, operating conditions and project specifications.

- AISI 304 Stainless Steel: A practical choice for many standard residential hot and cold water systems, offering good corrosion resistance, mechanical strength and durability.

- AISI 316L Stainless Steel: Contains molybdenum and has a lower carbon content than standard 316, providing improved resistance to certain forms of corrosion. It may be preferred in coastal areas or applications involving more aggressive water conditions, subject to engineering assessment.

Both grades can support durable domestic plumbing systems when selected and installed correctly. The appropriate material should always be confirmed against the actual water conditions and applicable project standards.

4. Press Connection Technology

MAYER stainless steel press fittings use a mechanical press connection designed for compatible stainless steel pipes and approved pressing tools. Depending on the product series, the connection incorporates a sealing element and a specially formed fitting profile. The pressing tool deforms the fitting around the pipe to create a secure mechanical joint and reliable seal when correctly installed.

The typical installation process includes:

1. Cutting

Confirm the pipe length needed, and cut it with approved burr-free cutters.
Oxy-acetylene torches and abrasive cut-off wheels are not suitable.
2. Deburring

Carefully deburr all pipe cuts inside and outside with a deburrer. Remove any cutting residue thoroughly.
3. Assess and mark insertion depth

Mark the pipe with a fine-point felt pen where it meets the fitting for verification of full insertion.
4. Check the o-ring

Check the positioning of the o-ring, and lubricate the o-ring with water or talc to ease insertion of the pipe if necessary. Make sure the pipe and fitting are clean and free of oil and sundries.
5. Inserting the pipe into the fitting

The pipe is inserted in the fitting with a slight rotating motion until it hits the stop. Check the pipe against the felt pen mark to ensure complete insertion. And the insertion should not be forced at an angle, which will easily cause damage to the o-ring.
6. Pressing

Position the jaw over the fitting, creating a perfect fit with the internal channel of the jaw around the toroidal seat of the fitting. Make sure that the jaws are perpendicular to the joint, and squeeze the trigger to initiate the press cycle, holding it down for the full duration of press cycle.
7. Confirming the size of joint

Confirm the size of joint by measuring the section dimension with a special gauge.

Unlike welded connections, press fittings require no welding flame at the joint. This can reduce hot-work risks, simplify installation in confined spaces and improve construction efficiency. Installation must follow the product-specific instructions and local plumbing regulations.

FAQ

Q1. Are stainless steel press fittings suitable for the food and beverage industry?

Yes, for suitable piping applications where the material, sealing elements, connection design, and operating conditions meet the project requirements. Direct food-contact and hygienic process applications require additional suitability verification.

Q2. Should I choose AISI 304 or AISI 316L press fittings?

The choice depends on the conveyed medium, cleaning chemicals, temperature, chloride exposure, and other operating conditions. AISI 316L may be preferable in certain more demanding corrosion environments, but the actual application must be evaluated.

Q3. Can stainless steel press fittings reduce installation time?

The press connection method can simplify assembly and reduce on-site welding work in suitable applications. Actual installation time depends on system design, pipe size, tooling, and installation conditions.

Q4. What information should I provide when requesting a quotation?

Please share the required material grade, fitting types, dimensions, quantities, working pressure and temperature, conveyed medium, applicable standards, and destination market. For hygienic process applications, please also specify the cleaning requirements and any required food-contact documentation.
