Background & Challenge
Zhuhai Chimelong Penguin Hotel is a integral part of Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, the world‘s largest marine theme park. The hotel features over 2,000 guest rooms along with large self-service restaurants, children‘s play areas, and the Emperor Penguin Buffet Restaurant, demanding extremely high stability and supply capacity for domestic hot water and drinking water.
Key challenges included:
1. High Occupancy Density: The hotel operates at full capacity year-round with instantaneous high water demand, requiring excellent pressure resistance and hydraulic performance.
2. Coastal Corrosive Environment: Located in the coastal city of Zhuhai, the high salinity in the air makes ordinary pipes prone to corrosion and water contamination.
3. Hygiene and Safety: As a high-end hotel hosting a large number of international and family guests, the water quality must meet direct drinking standards, eliminating secondary heavy metal pollution.
To meet the specific high-end operational requirements of the Penguin Hotel, the project selected Guangzhou Mayer‘s 304 and 316L stainless steel piping systems.
Reasons for selection:
1. Tiered Material Application:
- 316L Grade: For pipe shafts and mechanical rooms subject to high humidity and salt spray, molybdenum-bearing 316L stainless steel provides excellent resistance to chloride ion corrosion, ensuring no rusting for 30 years in harsh conditions.
- 304 Grade: For indoor finishing areas, stable and economical 304 stainless steel ensures pure water quality at the point of entry.
2. Advanced Connection Technology: The project utilized Mayer’s double-press clamping technology (DN15-DN100) and grooved connections (DN125-DN200). Compared to traditional welding, this method increases installation speed by 60% and avoids oxide contamination from welding, eliminating potential leak points caused by “false welding” .
3. Smooth Inner Wall & Bacteriostasis: Mayer’s pipes feature smooth inner walls that inhibit bacterial growth and reduce friction resistance, ensuring stable water pressure even on the top floors during peak usage hours.

Since the installation of Guangzhou Mayer’s stainless steel piping system at Zhuhai Chimelong Penguin Hotel, it has operated stably for many years with significant results:
1. Zero Leakage Record: Leveraging the seismic and anti-loosening properties of double-press connections, the system has maintained a ”zero leakage“ record despite long-term ground micro-vibrations and water hammer from pump starts/stops, greatly reducing the hotel‘s maintenance costs .
